    A revelatory collection of lesser known Joe Tex songs and outtakes recorded between and , this is down-home Southern soul in the grand tradition. Tex, of course, was one of the best and most versatile of singers of the genre, one of the few who was able to survive into the disco era without really changing his style.

The album lacked a true top killer cut, but with one or two exception, virtually every one of these was worth hearing.     First-rate country/soul, sung with the just the right blend of whimsy, worry, and relief. Joe Tex was routinely turning out excellent cuts throughout the mid-'60s, but it wasn't until his novelty/disco tunes of the mid-'70s that he finally attained any widespread recognition. Sadly, none of his great Dial albums are currently in print.
